Founder and CEO, Possip

Shani Dowell is the CEO and Founder of Possip. Possip, a mashup of positive+gossip, strengthens schools and communities through the power of community-driven feedback and tech-enabled synthesis. Since its founding in 2017, Possip has provided its service to over 1 million parents, students, and staff in over 1,500 schools across 37 states.

Dowell’s efforts to eliminate socioeconomic, language, and other barriers to engagement while raising capital as a Black woman in the education technology sector have led to her recognition as a Most Admired CEO by Nashville Business Journal as well as with NASDAQ, Google, and CNN.

Shani is a proud alumna of Howard University and Stanford Graduate School of Business and lives in East Nashville, TN. She spends her spare time being a soccer mom.
